First United Reformed Church of Oak Lawn
Preparing for Corporate Worship - Sunday, August 17, 2025
Services at 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM
Dear Friends,
Blessings to each of you as we come close to the next Lord's day. When you think of Sunday gathered worship, which song best fits "church" for you? Tell me tomorrow, I would love to know your #1 Sunday worship song!
I pray that this has been a week of looking to the Lord. When we are joyful, give thanks to the Lord for that joy. When we are sorrowful and struggling, look to the Lord for help and grace through the difficulty. I pray that each of you finds great comfort in the Lord Jesus Christ today

MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE
In the morning we will be at book #6. Joshua. What stands out to you about the book of Joshua? One thing we will bring up is that Joshua is the first of the historical books. That is significant. The Lord will bring us rich things from His Word, pray for that!

EVENING WORSHIP SERVICE
The evening brings us clarity about how we give to the Lord from our monies. First of all, is the money ours? Secondly, what is the difference between tithes and offerings? We will look at Romans 15.25-28 and Lord's day 42 of the Catechism. Come prepared to have your heart stirred and your mind filled for the glory of God!
-------------------------------------
Responsive Reading of Acts 11.19-30
Scripture Reading: Romans 15.23-33
Confessional Reading: Lord’s Day 42
Text: Romans 15.25-28
Sermon: “Offerings are a Fruit of the Gospel”
Theme: Because of Jesus we give sacrificially to help other believers
1. News came by a prophet of an upcoming need
2. Gentile Christians were moved to give for the relief of Jewish Christians
3. Since they were already tithing, they needed to shift to offerings
